Film festival comes to Phuket
Phuket, in the south of Thailand, may be best known for its hot sun, sandy beaches and swaying palm tress, but there is more to the southern paradise than lounging on a beach. This summer, the city will be welcoming the second edition of the Phuket Film Festival, which will run from June 4th to 11th.
Building on the success of last year's event, this year's festival will again show a multitude of impressive and intelligent films from around the world, with more than 40 movies from 17 different countries taking part.
The organisers have also chosen to highlight the specific theme of Taiwanese film for this year's festival.
According to the Thai Tourist Board, "the Spotlight on Taiwanese Film is being held in line with the festival's goal to diversify cultural activities in Phuket and to mark the growth of the Taiwanese film industry".
Phuket is an excellent jumping-off point for exploring the south of Thailand, including the islands of Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
