Festival fever hits Alice Springs

Thousands of people are expected to flock to Alice Springs next week, as the Alice Desert Festival gets underway.

An event not to be missed, the festival promises to be a creative extravaganza, with something to keep everyone entertained.

According to What's on When, the Alice Desert Festival – which takes place from September 12th to September 21st – features an "eclectic programme of arts events" and kicks off with a Grand Opening Parade down Todd Mall.

Previous festivals have included basket-weaving workshops, photography exhibitions and didgeridoo lessons.

This year's programme of events includes a Bush Band Bash, Big Country Exhibition, Bushfoods Recipe Competition and Bellydancing for Beginners.

Known as Australia's "oasis", Alice Springs is a town rich in character and cultural heritage, with attractions such as the Araluen Cultural Precinct and Alice Springs Reptile Centre.
