Australia to enjoy Hervey Bay Whale Festival

Travellers heading off on holiday to Australia this August may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a hump back whale during their annual migration to Hervey Bay in Queensland.

The Hervey Bay Whale Festival celebrates the arrival of these majestic creatures with live music, parades and picnics.

It kicked off on Saturday August 1st Urangan Boat Harbour and continues right through until October.

Highlights of this season include the Whale Day Carnival at Seafront Oval on August 8th, the Fraser Coast Chronicle Illuminated Street Parade and a grand finale of spectacular fireworks.

August 16th also sees the Fraser Lions Hervey Bay Seafood Festival swing into town, where chefs will prepare fresh local seafood and visitors of all ages can be entertained by performing artists.

Hervey Bay has been described as the whale watch capital of the world and is just a 45 minute flight away from Brisbane.
