Auckland to hold fashion festival next year

Auckland will be holding a fashion festival in March next year, following on from Auckland Cup Week.

The event, which will be Auckland's first ever fashion festival, is being launched by Pieter and Myken Stewart, the organisers of Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

Aiming to satisfy the increasing interest the public have in fashion, the consumer event will be similar to the successful Melbourne fashion festival.

"It's inclusive, rather than exclusive. Anyone can get involved," Myken Stewart told the NZ Herald.

A show displaying autumn/winter collections of clothing and party will open the event in a central venue on 16th March, with group and individual designer shows taking place throughout the week.

Also on the agenda at the fashion celebration will be fashion films, seminars, beauty events and student exhibitions. It is also hoped that the festival will stimulate sales in New Zealand and provide the local fashion industry with more publicity.ADNFCR-1583-ID-19530756-ADNFCR
